"When I’m on stage I pour my heart into it, always striving to give every performance one hundred percent. I love playing with The Main Event Band, I feel so lucky to share the stage with such incredibly talented musicians, whose experience has certainly helped to elevate my abilities."
Bob Hale
Bob brings with him to The Main Event Band a lifetime worth of performing experience packed into a relatively short number of years. Coming from a musical Detroit family, Bob began playing music at the age of 10, joined his first band at 13, became a full-time performer at 15, and earned his first record deal at the tender age of 18.
Upon moving to Kentucky, Bob found himself in high demand, performing with such Nashville artists as Gary Stewart, Johnny Paycheck, Don Cox, Julie Reeves, Matt Mason and Paul Pace. Bob has also shared the stage with such musical legends as Pattie Labelle, Kool & the Gang, and Hank Williams Jr. to name just a few.
Bob’s musical influences stretch across the entire musical map, but upon listening to him play, one can clearly hear James Jamerson, Bob Babbitt, and his personal hero, Rocco Prestia. Bob’s ability to jump from one musical genre to the next gives The Main Event Band a rare flexibility when selecting their set lists. Bob currently lives in Ayden, NC with his lovely wife Pam and their four dogs.
Ken Hardee
Ken Hardee has been playing professionally for 48 years. He has opened for or performed with such bands and artists as Sawyer Brown, Exile, Delbert McClinton, Ronnie McDowell, Clarence Carter, The Hagers, Steve Wariner, Mel McDaniel, Shelly West, TG Sheppard, T. Graham Brown, Johnny Paycheck, Billy Joe Royal…and many more!
Striving for a tight, well-defined edge of showmanship and musical creativity, he works to build a strong rapport with the audience…no matter if it’s 10 or 10,000, he feels he owes them the respect of presenting "all you have from the first note of the evening to the last one played."
Incorporating the sounds of R&B, Country, Blues, and Gospel into his keyboard voicing, creates a unique sound he is proud of. Whether he’s playing ballads or hard-hitting hammer notes on his keyboards, Ken adds the fullness needed to give the band his very best…all night long!
From the first gig with Exile in ’88, which was termed the "opening act" in his stage career, he has met and played with many terrific people in the music industry, mostly from Nashville. Working closely with the road techs proved to be the most rewarding because he was able to learn some of the cool "licks" heard in older country music. Lee Carrol (Exile) and Steve Shepherd (Ronnie McDowell) were his two greatest keyboard mentors with Shepherd (over 12 shows together) going above and beyond to teach him exactly how it is and was played.
The knowledge and experience he has gained from his well-diversified musical endeavors has been injected into the "Main Event Band" sound. By the blending of his country roots sound, along with the talents of The Main Event Band, he has finally found his home!
Jerry Coyle
Jerry has been singing professionally for the past 4 years and with The Main Event Band for the past 2 years. His only formal training was at East Carolina University where he majored in musical theater. Singing has always been his passion, and he is very grateful he gets to entertain for a living!
